A magnitude 4.7 earthquake was recorded at 03:49 last night in Yailadere district of Bingol district in central Turkey. This is according to information from the Directorate of the Presidency for Disaster and Emergency Management (AFAD).
The quake was detected at a depth of 7 kilometers.
Bingöl District Governor Kadir Ekinji said there had been no reports of casualties or significant damage so far.
According to him, the teams are continuing the necessary inspections and rescue work in the area to identify possible damage.
The earthquake was also felt in the cities of Bingel, Elazig, Erzincan, Erzurum.
Many citizens of these cities went outside their houses for fear of the earthquake and spent the night outside or in their cars, despite the cold weather.
Meanwhile, another earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale was registered at 9:06 am in the city of Elazig-Karakochan.
