Belgian journalist who scrapped Origi’s transfer to Liverpool shares major update on attacker’s future at Anfield – Archyde


The arrival of Luis Diaz from FC Porto threw up a lot when it came to the future of the likes of Divock Origi and Taki Minamino.

However, it seems Liverpool fans can rest assured that one of their most prestigious cult heroes in the Belgium international will remain a Red for the remainder of the season, with reliable journalist Sven Claes breaking the news on Twitter.

Some had expected the former Lille hitman to make way following the arrival of our latest signing in the January window, although the club appear to still regard the striker as an important part of the structure.

To be fair to Origi, he has made an excellent contribution off the bench for us this season, in stark contrast to the previous season, recording five goals and two assists in 10 games (across all competitions).

It’s an impressive total for a man limited to a few minutes here and there and certainly proves his enduring importance to this Liverpool side.

Whether that means a new deal is on the horizon is another question entirely, however, as Diaz is likely to further limit his first-team chances for the foreseeable future.
