Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said Kanye West must be fully vaccinated if he wants to perform in the country.
r Morrison announced today amid media reports that the hip-hop artist plans to perform across Australia in March 2022.
Discussing the rapper’s upcoming tour Down Under, Mr Morrison told a press conference that the country’s vaccination rules apply to everyone “as people have seen lately”, citing the situation with the tennis superstar Novak Djokovic.
Djokovic has been banned from attending the ongoing Australian Open after the government canceled his visa over Covid-19 rules and his unvaccinated status.
“It doesn’t matter who you are, it’s the rules,” Mr Morrison told news media on Saturday, adding: “Follow the rules – you can come. You don’t play by the rules, you can’t.”
On Friday the Sydney Morning Herald reported that West was planning to play stadium concerts in Australia, citing industry sources.

West’s vaccination status is currently unknown.
During a 2021 interview on social media, he said he received a dose of the vaccine, but in a 2020 interview with the business magazine ForbesHe compared vaccination to “the mark of the beast.”
Australia, which has one of the highest vaccination rates in the world, has been battling an explosive wave of infections over the past month, fueled by the fast-spreading Omicron variant, with around two million registered cases.

It had previously reported just 400,000 cases since the pandemic first broke out nearly two years ago.
Earlier, Australia’s Trade and Tourism Minister Dan Tehan said Immigration Minister Alex Hawke would make a decision on West’s visa, adding that Hawke would review the singer’s application “like other visa applications”.
