MC Donalds joked it would only accept Dogecoin as payment if Tesla accepted Grimacecoin as payment.

The fast food chain responded Tweet von Tesla-CEO Elon Musk on Tuesday that he would eat a Happy Meal on TV if McDonald’s accepted Dogecoin as payment.

Grimace is a plump purple character featured in some of McDonald’s marketing campaigns.

Musk is a longtime supporter of Dogcoin – a Japanese Shiba Inu cryptocurrency that started as a hoax in 2013. earlier this month Tesla started accepting Dogecoin for some of its goods.

Musk’s tweet about McDonald’s on Tuesday sent Dogecoin up almost 4% to around $0.14. It is still trading around this level CoinMarketCap.

Hours after McDonald’s made the Grimacecoin joke, multiple Twitter accounts surfaced on Twitter claiming to be selling “Grimacecoin.” However, McDonald’s does not currently operate a Grimacecoin.

McDonald’s did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.
