The father-of-two – who walked between feuding siblings Harry and William at Prince Philip’s funeral – divorced his ex-wife Autumn last year after 12 years together
Royal insiders say the introduction of his new partner to the Queen is a big step and a sign the couple are serious – although wedding bells may still be a long way off.

A source told The Sun: “The Queen is one of the most important people in Peterhis life, so it’s only right that he introduce her to Lindsay. It was a very warm meeting and the Queen was clearly delighted to meet someone who makes Peter so happy.

“Despite the fact that he divorced Autumn, they have two children together and the relationship between them is still incredibly warm. They both move on with their lives accepting that the other will find someone romantically.

“It may be early days but Peter wanted his grandmother to see that he was happy. It’s a clear sign that Lindsay has now been firmly welcomed into The Firm, and an important first step if they ever decide to get married. The Queen just wants Peter to be happy.”

Peter and Autumn announced last February that they had split the past year. They amicably settled their divorce last June after 12 years together and have two children, Savannah, 11, and nine-year-old Isla.

Last March, The Sun revealed how police officers gave the businessman “advice” after he drove 460 miles from his home in Gatcombe Park in Gloucestershire. At the height of the government’s Covid restrictions, he went to Lindsay’s £475,000 home on Scotland’s east coast.

Lindsay was classmates with Zara, 39, at Gordonstoun, the £40,000 school in Aberdeenshire, where Peter was a couple years above them.

A snap of guests leaving Zara’s 2011 wedding ceremony to rugby star Mike Tindall captured a laughing Lindsay in a cream top and pink hat.

Phillips and Lindsay are said to have become close after a recent school reunion.
After leaving school, Lindsay worked in a health food store for some time. In recent years she has been a housewife.

Phillips, the son of Princess Anne’s ex-husband Captain Mark Phillips, is 17th in line to the throne. He is often referred to as the Queen’s “favourite grandson” by royal insiders.

Lindsay was also photographed in November being driven to Windsor to attend a double christening for Mike and Zara Tindall’s son Lucas and Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s boy August.

Peter later threw a shooting party at Windsor Great Park where Lindsay was formally introduced to Her Majesty. The Queen remains on “light duty” at Windsor Castle after last year’s hospital scare. A spokesman for Peter Phillips said: “Peter attended a private event in Windsor.”
