Dacia Duster supremacy threatened by another Renault car: you wouldn’t expect it

Dacia has managed to make waves around the world in recent years with a range of affordable cars that offer great value for money. Now, however, Renault seems to have shifted its focus to another brand within the group.

Lada is another important brand of the Renault concern. Even if Russian cars are no longer that popular in Romania, the auto giant has big plans in Putin’s country for the years to come, starting with a very attractive alternative to Dacia Duster. The new SUV will have its roots in the classic Lada Niva from a few decades ago.

Lada Niva, the most impressive alternative for Dacia Duster

After a hiatus of around four decades, Lada Niva returns to the Russian manufacturer’s offices. If all goes well, the future car should be on the road by 2024. It will be based on the same modular platform as the Dacia Duster 3, dubbed the CMF-B. Most likely, however, the Niva will have a much more futuristic, imposing design than the Romanian SUV.

For reference, Dacia and Lada are two brands that operate under the Renault group and are trying, at least in theory, to put affordable cars on the roads that are cheaper than the market average. Apparently, this promise also applies to the future SUV Lada Niva.

Structurally, Niva will have a five-door body, will be available as a hybrid version and will have some common features with the 4×4 Vision concept presented in Moscow in 2018. Slightly square, with an angular design and high ground clearance, it will share some features with the first generation Niva was introduced in 1977.

All in all, Lada Niva will be a car designed to take your breath away and give you a sense of adventure. At the back it will have a set of horizontally arranged LED taillights along with a sturdy spoiler. If all goes well, Niva looks set to be available in a seven-seater version by 2025. In the first phase, a Renault 1.3 TCe petrol engine with 12V mild hybrid technology will be used as the engine. Accordingly, full hybrid and plug-in hybrid configurations will also be available Autoblog.it.
