Covid infection rate continues to rise in Latvia / Article – Archyde

Sunday brought 4,753 new confirmed cases, according to the latest figures from the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).

Of 20,455 tests performed in the last 24 hours, 23.2% were positive. The 14-day cumulative morbidity rate per 100,000 population continued to rise in uncharted territory from Saturday’s 2,321 to Sunday’s 2,519, by far the highest of the pandemic so far.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 335,451 Covid cases have been registered among Latvia’s 1.9 million inhabitants.

Two more Covid-related deaths have been confirmed, both aged between 70 and 79. One was fully vaccinated, one was not.

Data from the National Health Service on Sunday shows 719 patients are being treated in hospital (up from 663 the previous day), with 81 patients admitted in the past 24 hours and 16 discharged. 89 patients show serious symptoms.
