Germany blocks arms shipments from Estonia to Ukraine – paper – World – Archyde

NEW YORK, January 22. /TASS/. Berlin has blocked Estonia’s attempt to ship German-made weapons to Ukraine, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.

Earlier, several European countries began supplying modern weapons to Ukraine as the situation around the country escalated. The United States has allowed the Baltic countries to transfer US-made weapons to Kiev, including air defense and anti-tank missile systems. At the same time, Germany firmly refused to supply arms to Kiev.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Berlin insists that the shipment of German arms to Ukraine by third countries is only possible with a special permit, which was not granted in this case.

Western media previously expressed doubts about Berlin’s willingness to fully support its NATO allies in the event of a standoff with Russia.

The West and Kiev have recently spread accusations about a possible Russian invasion of Ukraine. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called these claims “empty and unfounded” and a ploy to escalate tensions, noting that Russia poses no threat to anyone. However, Peskov did not rule out the possibility of provocations to justify such claims and warned that attempts to resolve the crisis in south-eastern Ukraine with military force would have serious consequences.
