Free consultations for diabetics

Since the end of 2021, the Deyun Diabetic Specialty Center (CEDD) offers free consultations to patients with diabetes.

This initiative arose to help those who, due to high costs, cannot access the medications marked for their treatment and, in turn, provide them with personalized attention.

This center is the first in Jalisco to implement this proposal. ANDhe doctor in charge of this clinic, Alfredo Dayid Franco Magana, underlines that it is a multidisciplinary care for patients.

“We seek to give them a more personalized attention that covers everything that the pathology implies, from explaining what they are suffering from, why it occurs and what we can do to reduce it”

The specialist highlights that during the pandemic, Jalisco has presented an increase in cases of diabetes due to lack of physical activity, stress caused by the fear of catching COVID-19, and access to high-calorie foods.

According to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), Diabetes was among the top three causes of death nationally in 2021, surpassed only by heart disease and stroke. COVID-19.

As for the cases that have been treated so far, the expert highlights that of a patient who has lived with diabetes for more than 15 years and who learned about this service through social networks.

Remember that she came to the center with ulcers on her legs, derived from this disease.

“At first, as a patient, you may be skeptical about attending other alternatives, if they are already wounds that have been treated with other medications. But in the case of diabetes, we must know what the antecedents are in order to know how to treat them and continue with a check-up that allows us to see the progress of each person”, shares Franco Magaña.
