COVID: Mexico registers 50 thousand 373 new cases and 278 deaths

Mexico registered this Thursday 50 thousand 373 new infections of COVID-19 for a total of four million 545 thousand 683 cases, in addition to 278 deaths to reach 302 thousand 390 total deaths, informed the Ministry of Health.

On Wednesday, 60,552 were reported, the highest number of daily infections of the pandemic. Just on Tuesday, the country had added 49,343 new infections, a maximum figure, and came from a week with more than 40,000 infections.

Of the number of confirmed cases, there are 342 thousand 788 active, who have presented symptoms during the last 14 days and account for 7.1% of the total. Furthermore, since the start of the pandemic Three million 583 thousand 463 people have recovered.

The average occupancy of general beds in Mexican hospitals stands at 38% and the use of intensive care beds at 22%.

The person in charge of managing the pandemic in the country, Hugo López-Gatell, stated on Tuesday that the cases of COVID caused by the omicron variant in Mexico are 10 times higher than hospitalizations and deaths.


The authorities also indicated that within the vaccination program 157.88 million doses have been administered, adding 720 thousand 356 during the last day.

Of 126 million inhabitants in the country, 83 million have at least one dose of the vaccine. Meanwhile, 76.2 million have completed their vaccination schedule.
