There is confusion as to whether or not the 162 students at Tirelong Secondary School in the northwest have been abducted.

On Thursday morning, the department said it was investigating reports that 162 students were abducted from the Boons Mega Farm School hostel Tuesday night by a mob of drunk people posing as their parents.

Eyewitness News reporter Mia Lindeque spoke to police and they said no kidnapping case had been opened and urged the parents to come forward.

The community even marched and demanded a new building because the children can be in that building, it’s unsafe. Then last week a decision was made by the department to put her in boarding schools and the parents are not happy about it.

Ironically, 54 children at Naauwpoort Mega Farm School have also been abducted and parents say they simply were not consulted. Whether the parents or communities are behind it is still unclear.
