former Bachelor and neighbours Star Tim Robards will spend the next month in a leg brace learning to “walk and run properly again” after being hospitalized with a soccer injury.
The 39-year-old, who met his wife Anna Heinrich on Australia’s first season of the reality show in 2013, took to Instagram to share the news, along with pictures of himself in a hospital gown.
“In a moment that can only be described as pure glory… I hurtled across the football pitch in full glory… on the verge of scoring a goal… and then RIP… A part of me that had been a part of me for 39 years, was no longer…part of me hehe,” he captioned the slideshow.
“Long story short, I had to have that muscle reattached (rec fem) so I could walk/run properly again.
“I’m usually really good at my warm-ups, but this time life got in the way and a few rushed leg swings and high knees just wasn’t enough (note to future self).”
The rectus femoris is located in the upper, anterior middle compartment of the thigh and is the only muscle in the quadriceps group that crosses the hip.
Robards added that from now on it’s “crutches and a leg brace for me for the next month or so while I rehab and get into the best shape of my life as I approach 40.”
“Thanks to the wonderful staff and the Doc who took care of me and put me back together! You know who you are,” he wrote.
Heinrich shared a photo of the couple’s one-year-old daughter, Elle FaceTiming Robards, from his infirmary to her Instagram Story.
“I will look out for you. Xxx,” she commented on his post.
In conversation with the Herald Sun Last year, Robards spoke candidly about the challenges of making time to exercise while balancing parenting.
“It was definitely harder to schedule the time for me and it takes great teamwork and communication with Anna,” he said.
“But I have to be my best self if I’m going to be a great father to Elle and a great husband to Anna.”
