Los Angeles-based L39ION unveiled their 2022 jersey, designed in collaboration with apparel sponsor Rapha and embodying their ‘Always Lead – Never Follow’ mindset.
The jersey design features distorted light trails and a fast-paced graphic style that symbolizes L39ION of Los Angeles’ attitude to distorting people’s perceptions of them and the sport, in a color palette that reflects their natural habitat: critical night races, so the press release Thursday.
“This is hands down the coolest uniform I’ve worn in my career,” said team co-founder Justin Williams. “The inspiration came from a series of night race photos that my brother and I fell in love with and Rapha executed our design for 2022 perfectly.
“I’m thrilled that we can use this jersey to celebrate what we love most about cycling: chaotic straights, fast corners and even faster sprints.”
The team kit can be purchased on Rapha.cc, with a portion of the profits being reinvested back into the team to fund its development.
Founded in 2020 by brothers Justin and Cory Williams, Los Angeles-based L39ION quickly rose to dominance of the local Criterium scene. In 2021, the team received a UCI Continental license and added a women’s team.
