COVID: Mexico adds 17 thousand 101 infections and 59 deaths from the virus

The Ministry of Health reported that Mexico registered this Monday 17 thousand 101 new infections of COVID-19 for a total of four million 385 thousand 415 cases, in addition to 59 deaths to reach 301 thousand 469 total deaths.

The highest number of infections of the pandemic occurred last Saturday, when 47 thousand 113 infections were reported.

Of the total number of confirmed cases, there are 285 thousand 713 active, who have presented symptoms during the last 14 days and account for 6.2% of the total. Furthermore, since the start of the pandemic Three million 478 thousand 130 people have recovered.

The average occupancy of general beds stands at 31% and the use of intensive care beds at 17%.

This Monday, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) reappeared at his morning press conference after a week of isolation due to his contagion of coronavirus.

“We are out of contagion, it went well for us. It is demonstrable that this variant (ómicron) does not have the same severity as the previous one, the delta variant, in terms of symptoms and also in recovery time,” AMLO said from the National Palace.


The authorities also indicated that within the vaccination program 156.04 million doses have been administered, adding 157 thousand 442 during the last day.

Of its 126 million inhabitants, 82.99 million in the country have at least one dose of the vaccine. Meanwhile, 75.68 million have completed their vaccination schedule.
