Morning report: Giga Chikadze still confident after Calvin Kattar defeat:

Last Saturday, Giga Chikadze accepted Calvin Kattar in the main event of UFC Vegas 46. and was a rough night at the office for him. Kattar beat Chikadze for nearly 25 minutes, taking home a unanimous decision with results of 50-45, 50-45 and 50-44 and Chikadze’s plans to jump into a title shot with a win are thrown on their head. But despite the apparent setback to his ambitions, Chikadze remains optimistic about his future in the UFC.

“It is what it is,” Chikadze said On a Facebook Live, he did it after the fight. “It wasn’t my day, but it’s okay. It happens sometimes, shit. It was a good fight. My opponent did well, I made a mistake…

“I’m going to relax a bit, guys. I know you are following my journey and this is part of the journey. When I signed up for the sport, I knew that was part (of it). I screwed up last night, but it’s all good. It’s a journey. I’m learning from it and next time I’ll come back so much stronger. I already feel sorry for my future opponents. I will learn a lot from this one, trust me on that.”

Chikadze lost convincingly, but it wasn’t all bad for the Georgian fighter. the Fight won fight of the night honors, had fellow campaigners who praised the efforts of both men, and will possibly be in the fight of the year talk in late 2022. As losses go, this is one of the easiest to swallow, and just a few years into his full-time MMA career, Chikadze still has a lot of potential in the sport, especially with the sheer level of confidence he has.

“I feel like if I fought this guy 10 times, I would win 9 times,” Chikadze said. “That would be the one I would lose and that was last night. It is what it is. I made a mistake and now I’m paying with it. Everything is good. guys i’m unbreakable Remember that shit, Georgians are always unbreakable. So we fight to the damn end.”

The loss is the first of Chikadze’s UFC career as the former Glory kickboxer finished 7-0 in organization ahead of his clash with Kattar. His overall MMA record is 14-3.
