Penny Kris-Etherton, Professor of Nutrition, said: “Oxidation is not good, so protecting the body through the food you eat could be very beneficial.
“Consequently, people should consider adding avocados to their diet in healthy ways, such as on whole wheat toast or as a vegetarian dip.”
The researchers added that it’s “likely” that avocados contain additional bioactive compounds that may contribute to cholesterol-lowering and health benefits.
They suggested this because the low-fat diet without avocados contained the same monounsaturated fats found in the green fruit.
