(WYTV) – Who would have thought a runny nose could be so bothersome? If you have school-age children, you know this all too well.
Here’s what pediatricians are telling us now about how to keep our kids away from school when they’re sick.
Children with symptoms of COVID-19, which can look and sound like a cold, should stay home, they say.
“The recommendations are that any child who has a fever, runny nose, cough, constipation, muscle pain, loss of taste or smell, should be examined by their doctor,” said Dr. Adam Keating of the Cleveland Clinic.
The guidelines can be frustrating, but the coronavirus is spreading to others so it’s better to stay on the safe side.
If your child is experiencing symptoms and you want to rule out COVID-19, skip the home rapid tests and ask your pediatrician to order a PCR test from the lab: it’s the most accurate.
