Blue Jay Weekend Recap: Hockey Sweeps, Gymnastics Wins KC Invite

JAMESTOWN, ND. (NewsDakota.com) – Over a busy weekend in Blue Jay’s athletics, Jamestown took victories in three different sports.

JUNGENHOCKEY – JAMESTOWN 6, BOTTINEAU-RUGBY 0 | JAMESTOWN 7, DICKINSON 1

The Blue Jay boys won their third and fourth straight game over the weekend with dominant performances against Bottineau and Dickinson. Nolan Nenow collected five points in the two games, with all five assists for the junior. Joe Cummings scored three goals over the weekend and Brooks Roaldson had two goals to go, along with three points. On the net, Brode Hillstrom had a total of 37 saves between the two Conference games, and Hillstrom also had an assist against Dickinson. The Blue Jays will be in Mandan on Tuesday evening before heading to Minot at home on Friday.

GIRLS HOCKEY – JAMESTOWN 7, DICKINSON 2

Ellie Kruger scored a hat trick in Dickinson on Saturday to allow the Blue Jay girls to win their second straight game in one strike against the Midgets. Bernadette Belzer scored four points, including a goal of his own for Jamestown. Olivia Sorlie also made 15 saves in goal for Jamestown on Saturday, celebrating her fifth win of the season. The Jays, now 5-4-1 in the season, will face West Fargo United at Wilson Arena on Tuesday night at 7pm.

Haley Nelson was the all-round champion when the Blue Jays overtook Valley City for first place in the KC Invite. Nelson took first place on the uneven bars (9,300) and bars (9,525), while he also took fifth place (9,350) on the floor. Here are your totals for Jamestown.
