FRIDAY / NEW YEAR’S EVE: Another cloudy and relatively mild day to close the year 2021, according to Storm Center 7 meteorologist Austin Chaney. During the day, an isolated shower or two can occur. Rain is more likely in the late evening and overnight. It’s going to be a mild New Year’s Eve, with temperatures in the mid-50s this afternoon – temperatures in the upper 50s just before midnight.

NEW YEAR: It will rain for the new year. Partly widespread and heavy rain, especially south of Dayton. It also gets a little airy. High in the mid-50s.

Showers will taper by Saturday night, but as temperatures drop into the upper 20s, some showers can switch to some passing thunderstorms or light snow showers.

SUNDAY: Much colder air returns to the Miami Valley on Sunday. Temperatures will drop as the day progresses. You will spend most of the afternoon in your lower to mid 30s. A few passing snow showers are possible, especially early in the day.

MONDAY: Very cold to start the day with teenage lows in the morning. Mostly sunny and cold afternoons. Highs in the lower 30s.

TUESDAY: Mostly sunny and cool, but a little warmer than normal for Tuesday. Highs in the lower 40s.

WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny and cool. Highs in the low to mid 40s.

THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy, rain or snow possible. In the mid-30s it will be cold with high temperatures.
