Ariana Grande improvised part of she sings Performance in “Don’t Look Up,” reveals director Adam McKay.

The plot movies revolves around two astronomers trying to warn humanity of an approaching comet that will destroy the earth and a debate over facts. Grande and Kid Cudi play famous pop stars who give a concert in the film.

In a behind-the-scenes special for Netflix film clubMcKay called Grande’s lyrics “best improvisation”.

“Ariana Grande was definitely improvising. In fact, her best improvisation was when she first sang the song. She’s the one who added all that stuff about “We’re all going to die” and “Turn off that shit news”. That was her riffing on the first scratch track on the melody line. And when I heard it, I thought, ‘It’s in the movie.’ And that could be one of my favorite moments in the movie, in which pretty much the world’s greatest pop star sings beautifully, “We’re all going to die.” Every time I see it, it just has this hilarious cognitive dissonance. So Ariana Grande can definitely improvise, ”said McKay.

Grandes Text zum Song „Just Look Up“ include: “See what he’s really trying to say / Is getting his head off your ass / Listen to the goddamn skilled scientists.”

“We really screwed it up, screwed it up this time / It’s so close, I can feel the heat pretty much. / And you can pretend everything is fine / But that probably happens in real time / Celebrate or cry or pray, whatever it takes / To get you through the mess we made / Because tomorrow may never come / Just watch it / Turn off that damn Fox News / Because you’re all going to die soon. “

The film stars Leonardo Dicaprio and Jennifer Lawrence as Dr. Randall Mindy and Kate Dibiasky. The cast also includes Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Rob Morgan, Cate Blanchett, Tyler Perry and Timothée Chalamet.
