IIHF cancels U18 Women’s World Championships for the second year in a row

The International Ice Hockey Federation will reportedly cancel all of its January events amid rising COVID-19 cases around the world, meaning the women’s U18 tournament will not play for a second straight year.

Emily Kaplan from ESPN Reports The cancellations could already be announced on Friday and the players will be notified from Thursday.

The women’s U18 tournament is the most famous victim of the cancellations and should start on January 8th in Sweden. The final women’s U18 tournament was held in Slovakia in January 2020, with the US beating Canada in a gold medal game.
