A 22-year-old man was beaten up in the Rajouri Garden in West Delhi by relatives of his wife because they were against the marriage, the police said on Thursday.
Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (West) Prashant Gautam said a PCR call was received from Safdarjung Hospital on Thursday saying that a man identified as Raman who lives at the TC camp in Rajouri Garden has been hospitalized with injuries was brought.
Further investigation revealed that Raman and the Sagarpur resident woman were related and had run away. The two married outside of Delhi on Wednesday and have returned. However, the woman’s family learned where they lived, after which they forcibly took the couple to Sagarpur and beat the man there.
Police said an attempted murder trial had been registered and an investigation was ongoing.
