COVID vaccine: Mexico accumulates more than 146 million doses applied

The Ministry of Health reported that so far 81 million 896 thousand 526 people have received at least one dose of the anticovid vaccine, of which 72 million 263 thousand 651 have a complete scheme and nine million 632 thousand 875 received their first dose.

Through a statement, the institution specified that the National Vaccination Strategy continues throughout the country, and assured that 294,016 doses were applied this Monday, for a cumulative 146 million 863 thousand 343 vaccines supplied throughout the country.

He said that there is still vaccination for young people between 15 and 17 years old and the application of a third dose (booster) for people over 60 years of age.

He explained that in the shipments scheduled for December 20-24, there will be 3,556,540 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech and AstraZeneca; From this last laboratory, on December 20, 1,576,900 packaged were released at the Liomont plant, in the State of Mexico, and this day 585,000 arrived from the United States.

Regarding the current situation of the pandemic, epidemiological week number 49, indicated that there is a a 17 percent decrease in the number of estimated cases compared to the previous week.

He also added that 16 thousand 463 active cases are estimated, which represent 0.4 percent of the total reported since the start of the health emergency. What’s more, Three million 292 thousand 106 people have been recovered.

He indicated that hospitalization fell 91 percent from the peak of the third epidemic wave last January. At present, the occupancy of general beds stands at 15 percent and that of beds with a mechanical ventilator remains unchanged, at 11 percent.
