Ubisoft’s NFT platform Quartz caused a stir when it was announced earlier this month.

The publisher announced that Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint will be the first game to offer NFTs in beta testing in select countries excluding the UK.

First discovered by Apex Legends Senior Character Artist Liz Edwards, Ubisoft appears to have sold a total of 15 NFTs between the two marketplaces used: Object and Rarely.

Based on my rough calculations, that’s a total of 445.49 Tezos in sales or $ 1,755.30 in real money (based on the exchange rate at the time of writing).

It should be noted, however, that Ubisoft is also initially giving away the majority of its NFTs, which would reduce the number of sales made. Even so, the editor’s experiment with NFTs doesn’t seem to have got off to an optimal start.

In addition, Quartz is designed so that only those who play Ubisoft’s games can buy an NFT, which makes it less attractive for anyone looking to make quick money.

Als Journalist Stephen Totilo noted on Twitter, all Ubisoft NFT purchases appear to be for the weapon skin in Ghost Recon. Nobody bought the helmet, which takes 600 hours of gameplay to get it.

NFTs have been heavily criticized in the industry, most recently with Stalker 2 developer GSC Game World Deletion of its NFT-related content after a clear backlash. Also Ubisoft’s own employees are disappointed with Quartz.
