A lot can happen in 365 days. Every year, people experience how trends form, memes gain popularity, or new challenges test the courage of social media users.
Remembering all of the trends and memes can be pretty tough at the end of the year, but this is where YouTube Rewind shone. Since 2010, YouTube Rewind has grown into an annual trend highlighting the best moments, memes, trends, and content creators of the year.
As the calendars neared December, discussions began on online forums with fans trying to agree on the creators or trends they were more likely to see. The tradition took a break in 2020 due to the pandemic but is coming back with a rebranding.
The second season of the Rewind series is called Escape and instead of a short video it is a 24-hour, three-chapter interactive live stream. Given that the experience itself will be new, it’s hard to predict what fans can expect from it. Depending on the length of the event, there can be a lot more content compared to the rewinds.
When will YouTube Escape go live in 2021?
The first chapter of YouTube Escape 2021 is slated to go live on December 15th at 11:00 p.m. CET. However, if you miss the first chapter, don’t worry as there will be two more.
The second chapter of YouTube Escape 2021 starts on December 16 at 11 a.m. CET and the third chapter will go live on December 16 at 6 p.m. CET. While it’s not yet confirmed, YouTube Escape may also become available as a video on the platform in 2021, but its interactive features may be missing at this point. Chances are, some content creators should be recording the event. That said, even if you miss all three chapters, you should still be able to try YouTube Escape 2021.
If you do decide to watch the event, be sure to rate the livestream as well, as YouTube can use the data to decide whether to continue with the new format in 2022. If you like Escape more than Rewind, give the livestream a thumbs up and maybe an encouraging comment to thank everyone on the production crew.
