EASTON, Massachusetts (December 16, 2021) – Stonehill College senior striker Camryn Thompson was appointed to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Women’s Scholar Soccer All-East Region Team and Women’s Scholar All-America Third Team for the first time, the organization announced today.

Thompson, who achieved an average grade of 3.92 in biology at Stonehill, is being awarded the United Soccer Coaches Scholar for the first time in her career. She is now the second female soccer student in the program’s history to honor the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America’s current assistant coach Jamie Block, ’17 received the recognition in 2016.

Thompson has won a variety of other awards throughout her Stonehill career, including a two-time first-team selection from NEWISA All-New England and Arthur Ashe, Jr., Sports Scholar, for NE10 Rookie of the Year and an NE10 All-Rookie Selection -Teams as a newcomer. She received the St. Thomas Aquinas, Patroness of the Students, the medal for the highest cumulative grade point average in the team and the Fred C. Petti Award for the best grade point average of all Stonehill student athletes for the 2020-21 academic year. Thompson has received CoSIDA Academic All-District® honors two consecutive years and has been inducted into the NE10 Academic Honor Roll and the Honor Roll of Athletic Director each semester.

In her stellar Stonehill career, Thompson started 50 of the 58 games she played, scoring a total of 28 goals and nine assists for 65 points. During her career, she scored seven goals and scored multiple goals in four games. Thompson ranks seventh in program history for career goals and tied eighth all-time, while her 11 goals this fall are tenth on Stonehill’s single-season list. Her nine goals she scored as a freshman were just two under the program record for freshman students, while her top six assists this season are in third place all-time, and she finished the freshman program record at 24 in 2018 Points.

That year, the Skyhawks finished their 2021 season with an 8-8-2 overall record, including 5-6-2 in the NE10, finishing ninth in the regular season standings of the NE10. The Skyhawks won five of their last eight (5-2-1) and four of six (4-1-1), including a 3-2 win over a regionally ranked squad from Saint Anselm on October 30th. Ten of Stonehill’s 18 games were decided by a single goal, with the Skyhawks going 5-5 in those competitions.
