Bagheri Kani said on Twitter that he met with EU Political Director Enrique Mora and other delegates on Thursday “to take stock of the situation and to discuss how to proceed”.

“We made good progress this week. We are going to convene a joint commission today and continue the talks after a break of a few days, ”he said.

He did not give a date.

Three diplomats said Thursday that the remaining parties to the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran were scheduled to meet on Friday at 1:00 p.m. GMT to postpone talks on bailing out the deal. One of them said talks would resume December 27, while another said they would resume between Christmas and New Years.

As part of the deal, Iran had curtailed its nuclear program in return for easing sanctions from the United States, the European Union and the United Nations.

Then-President Donald Trump pulled the United States out of the deal in 2018 and re-imposed US sanctions, prompting Iran to break its nuclear restrictions in 2019.
