Ernests Valts Circenis wins the Pēteris Vasks Foundation’s Young Composers Competition | The news – to the world

Riga, December 17th, LETA. Ernests Valts Circenis won first place with the composition “Ķēdēs” in the competition for young composers of the Pēteris Vasks Foundation, announced the LETA Foundation.

In this case, Jury described the composition of Pēteris Vasks, Baiba Kurpniece, Andris Dzenītis and Dita Krenberga. Among the instrumental interpreters in the composition are the following compositions: Katrīne Kuģe, Ieva Lapkovska, Raimonds Gulbis, Laima Ratniece-Miltiņa, Alise Golovacka, Renāte Lodziņa, Elīna Saveļjeva, Elza Rubene and Varvara Zavjalova.

This year the members of the jury decided to award a first place, a second place and two third places as well as a prize for the best interpretation.

Alise Golovacka received the prize for the best interpretation for her composition “Chains”. Second place went to Dace Mangulsone with the composition “Infinite Fall”. Third place went to Marina Vidmonte with the composition “Spring Bird” and Henrijs Poikāns with the composition “Clarinetist from Picasso’s Painting”.

The Vaska Foundation organizes an annual competition to promote the creation of Latvian chamber music. The best composers are often selected for further collaboration in concerts organized by the Wax Foundation.
