The Ministry of Health, he said, is also stepping up Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) for the detection of omicrons. It even requires sample samples from the country of origin of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 with reagents sensitive to the various existing variants.
“This takes into account that the quarantine period of 10-14 days is considered sufficient to monitor the possibility of developing symptoms as well as two PCR tests,” he added.
