COVID: Mexico reports 204 new deaths and 2,695 infections

The Ministry of Health of Mexico reported this Wednesday that the country registered 204 new deaths from COVID-19 to reach 297,187 total deaths, as well as two thousand 695 new infections for a total of three million 924 thousand 638.

Of the total number of cases, there are 17 thousand 964 active, who have presented symptoms during the last 14 days and account for 0.4% of the total. In addition, since the beginning of the pandemic Three million 279 thousand 903 people have been recovered.

The average occupancy of general beds stands at 15% and the use of intensive therapy beds at 12%.

Despite the fact that Mexico confirmed the arrival of the omicron variant on December 3, a decrease in infections has been maintained since the peak of the third wave that was reached between July and August.


The authorities also indicated that within the vaccination program more than 138.85 million doses have been applied, adding 932 thousand 013 during the last day.

Of its 126 million inhabitants, 81.77 million in the country have at least one dose of the vaccine, that is, 87% of the total population of legal age. Of that total, 82% (66.45 million) have completed their vaccination schedule.
