Sharjah Islamic Art Festival shows works of art by 63 artists from 27 countries – Nach Welt

About 248 works of art by 63 artists from 27 countries will be presented at the 24th edition of the Sharjah Islamic Art Festival (SIAF), which starts on December 15th.

Under the motto Gradate, this year’s edition will take place for 40 days at The Sharjah Art Museum, the Al-Majaz Waterfront and the Maraya Art Center, as well as other locations in the emirate.

Mohamed Al Qaseer, Director of Cultural Affairs for the Sharjah Department of Culture and Information (SDCI), said the festival was being held under the auspices of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council and ruler of Sharjah, takes place.

“Thanks to His Highness’s wise vision to jointly lift the cultural and artistic discourse to tread it as the path to the renaissance of this intellectual project,” Al Qaseer said during a press conference on Monday to reveal the details of the event.

The Sharjah ruler had laid the foundation stone for a global art project represented in the SIAF to restore an artistic legacy with its own aesthetic and historical connotation.

Al Qaseer stated, “The Gradate theme of the festival relates to composition, construction and arrangement, perhaps every creative process arises from gradation.”

He added that the participating artists, with their different tools, methods and styles of expression, tried to explore this concept according to their perception, which resulted in the formulation of a visual performance appropriate to the subject.

There will be 151 events, including exhibitions, art workshops and lectures, hosted by SDCI in partnership with 26 Sharjah institutions, including the Arab Photographers Union, the Photographic Society, the Emirates Society for Fine Arts and other associations.

About 49 exhibitions are held at the Sharjah Art Museum, the House of Wisdom in Sharjah, the Sharjah Calligraphy Museum, the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Complex, the Al Majaz Waterfront, the Emirates Society for Arabic Calligraphy and Islamic Decoration, the Khor Fakkan Amphitheater. opens in the Eastern Province and other destinations in the emirate.
