JOHANNESBURG – President Cyril Ramaphosa is in isolation after testing positive for COVID-19.
Vice President David Mabuza will take over all of the President’s duties for the remainder of the week.
According to the presidency, Ramaphosa began to feel uncomfortable after leaving the state memorial service for FW de Klerk in Cape Town on Sunday.
The presidency says Ramaphosa is in a good mood and is being treated by military doctors for mild COVID-19 symptoms.
The president is fully vaccinated.
Meanwhile, the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) reported 18,035 new cases on Sunday.
A total of 21 people died as a result of COVID-19.
