Zoom users of two groups are entitled to up to $ 25 each after the company reached a $ 85 million settlement in a class action lawsuit over alleged privacy and security concerns.
In one development, Zoom agreed to pay $ 85 million while continuing to deny the allegations and any liability.
According to a Settlement in a class action lawsuit, Zoom pays up to $ 25 to its users who have been split into two groups to make a claim.
Subscribers to the proposed class action lawsuit are eligible for a 15% refund on their core subscriptions or $ 25, whichever is greater, while others could receive up to $ 15.
A user who used the video conferencing app before July is eligible for payment.
Corresponding The edgeif a user paid for a subscription to the Zoom Meetings app between March 30, 2016 and July 30, 2021, they will be eligible for $ 25 or 15 percent of the payment for that subscription (excluding optional add-ons) will. The user is entitled to the higher value.
The second group for submitting the claim will be created for those users who “registered, used, opened, or downloaded” the Zoom Meeting app between March 30, 2016 and July 30, 2021. Users can submit an application for $ 15.

Applications must be submitted by March 5, 2022 by completing the application form online or by mail. The payout amounts “may increase or decrease” depending on how many people are making claims.

A final approval hearing is scheduled for April 7, 2022, after the court had provisionally approved the settlement.
The lawsuit was filed against Zoom for allegedly disclosing user information to third parties through SDKs and marketplace apps.
It failed to prevent “unwanted third-party meeting interruptions” (aka “zoom bombing”) and that Zoom misrepresented its end-to-end encryption (which the company has since fixed).

When zooming in, outsiders hijack Zoom meetings and show pornography, use racist language or post other disturbing content.
Zoom’s customer base has grown six-fold since the COVID-19 pandemic forced more people to work from home.
The company had 497,000 customers with 10+ employees as of April 2021, up from 81,900 in January 2020. User growth could slow or decline as more people get vaccines and return to work or school in person.
