(WSIL) — Gouverneur JB Pritzker und das Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) Broadband Office announced a new planning and capacity building program to support the Illinois communities historic broadband infrastructure financing for community-driven broadband expansion.
Das Accelerate Illinois Broadband Infrastructure Planning Program will help local governments across Illinois obtain assistance as they prepare to mobilize new dollars from the state and federal governments.
The Illinois Office of Broadband urges local government agencies – especially cities, counties, and multi-county regions – to apply for expert assistance, which is offered as part of an intensive 14-week community engagement program aimed at making available public broadband funds in sustainable broadband access.
With more than 30 hours of complimentary expert advice from the Benton Institute, the program provides structured engagement for communities to identify broadband targets, understand available funding options, and raise capital to support implementation.
