The appearance of the Omicron variant has made South Africa a global spotlight. Many countries have started banning travel to and from South Africa to help curb the spread of the new coronavirus.

The ban also had an impact on the situation at Johannesburg International Airport. Many passengers flooded the tour operators and had to cancel travel plans. Omicron was first discovered in South Africa and called a worrying variant.
