There is something grim about the pandemic that has plagued us for almost two years. There are again more than 650 corona patients in intensive care units and the number of infections continues to rise, but nobody dares to predict when the numbers will finally decrease. “I don’t have a crystal ball,” says expert Tijs Alleman (Ghent University). “But the only logical conclusion is that it doesn’t look right.” How did we get here? How is that possible in a country with such a high vaccination coverage?
