Mexico registered 53 new deaths from COVID-19 on Monday for a total of 292 thousand 524 confirmed, in addition to another 916 cases to reach three million 864 thousand 278 detected, according to the Ministry of Health.
Mexico remains the fourth country with the most deaths from the virus, behind the United States, Brazil and India, and the fifteenth in number of confirmed infections, according to the Johns Hopkins University count.
The health authorities recognize that, based on the death certificates, the pandemic would be around 440 thousand deaths in the country and they estimate that Mexico actually accumulates 4 million 085 thousand 746 infections.
Of this number, 17,729 are active cases, which have presented symptoms during the last 14 days and account for 0.4% of the total. In addition, since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,227,027 people have been recovered.
The average occupancy of general beds remained for the second day in a row at 17%, although the use of intensive care beds fell to 13 percent.
The authorities also indicated that the vaccination program, which includes all those over 18 years of age, accumulates more than 131 million doses applied, adding 99 thousand 511 during the last day.
So far, 75.8 million people have at least one dose and almost 64.31 million have completed the vaccination scheme, that is, just over half of its 126 million inhabitants.
