THE CRIMINAL Assets Bureau seized cash, cash and a variety of designer goods during searches in Limerick and Galway.
The pre-planned operation, which began this Tuesday morning, comprised more than 60 staff and was led by officials from the bureau, assisted by the local Gardai and the customs dog unit.
“In the course of the operation, six residential properties and one business premises were searched. The search was aimed at an organized criminal group involved in the sale and delivery of controlled drugs in the Galway area, “said a garda spokesman.
“The investigation began after a profiler from the Galway Drugs Division was referred to the Criminal Assets Bureau,” the spokesman added.
So far, the investigation has confiscated 18,680 euros in cash, two Rolex watches and 66,000 euros withheld from a bank account.
Assets seized in today’s searches include 22,000 euros in cash, 4,450 pounds sterling, a 191-registered Audi A6 car and a variety of designer goods. In addition, financial accounts with 17,000 euros were frozen.
The investigation continues.
