UAlbany women’s volleyball loses in America East tournament final – The Daily Gazette – archyde

BALTIMORE – The UAlbany women’s volleyball team’s bid to win the America East tournament fell painfully short on Saturday.

The top seeded UMBC overcame a gap of two sets to beat the second-placed Great Danes with 22-25, 18-25, 25-10, 25-19, 15-10 in the final at the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena.

The retrievers will receive the automatic bid for the NCAA tournament. The Great Danes season ends at 14-15.

Danielle Tedesco led UAlbany with 19 kills and seven blocks. Grace Cozad had 14 kills and Oren Abutbul added 13 kills for the Great Danes.
Malea Stanton had 48 assists for UAlbany, Charlotte Macken collected 14 digs and Regan Wright had 13 digs.

“The team fought tonight and unfortunately came up short,” said UAlbany head coach Josh Pickard. “We went out of the gate strongly and couldn’t keep that momentum during the game. Congratulations to Malea and Oren on their nomination to the All tournament. They both played very well and gave us a great chance to win. “

RPI MEN’S HOCKEY TIES LIU
