The government has banned non-essential travel in British Columbia. Petrol stations are only allowed to sell a limited amount of gasoline to resolve bottlenecks.
Thousands of people had to be evacuated earlier this week. For example, anyone over 7,000 residents of the city of Merritt was ordered to leave. The massive evacuation is necessary, among other things, because clean drinking water can no longer be supplied.
In Abbotsford, near Vancouver, more than 100 homes in mudslide and flood-prone neighborhoods have been evacuated.
