The Indonesian government has ordered two giant Airbus A400M transport aircraft from the French aircraft manufacturer Airbus Defense and Space for the Indonesian Air Force. Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto said the aircraft will play a key role in combat support missions such as skydiving, heavy haulage and social needs. “In addition to tactical capabilities, the A400M will be a national asset and play an important role in disaster relief and response missions,” Prabowo said Thursday.
Michael Schoellhorn, Chief Executive of Airbus Defense and Space, said the Indonesian order will expand the reach of the Airbus 400M in the Asia-Pacific region. “The A400M offers exceptional capabilities with the perfect platform to move large, heavy payloads into remote areas and multiply air power projection,” said Schoellhorn.
