  • A truck with over 3 tons of contraband cigarettes and cut tobacco was arrested at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint.

    According to operational information, the Ministry of the Interior and Customs expected a large drug transport with the increased traffic.

    This was the reason for the police operation at the border control, which started yesterday.

    A special police operation against the smuggling of goods and goods subject to excise duty was carried out yesterday at the Kapitan Andreevo border crossing. The joint actions were carried out by police officers from the Svilengrad Regional Hospital, customs officers from TD-Burgas, employees of the National Revenue Agency and the Automobile Administration. 37 buses, 6 trucks with trailers and semi-trailers, 40 cars and pedestrians were inspected during the campaign. A total of 3,870 items marked with logos and inscriptions of protected brands were confiscated from 13 buses without the consent of the rights holder.

    The goods – textiles, perfumes, shoes and bags – were confiscated with receipts. During the checks, 16,800 excise-tax-free cigarettes and 8 kg of shisha tobacco were found in the luggage of the passengers. During an inspection of a tractor with a Turkish registration, a large number of undeclared excise-free cigarettes were found. 929,200 undeclared cigarettes, 29,200 cigars and 18,000 cigars without excise labels were confiscated. 750 kg of meat, 140 kg of food and 70 kg of dairy products were confiscated, all of which were prohibited from being imported.

    7 files were created by the customs officers, 12 receipts for seized goods under the Trademarks and Geographical Indications Act, and 32 receipts for other seized goods. The employees of the RD “Automobile Administration” have drafted 2 laws, announced the press center of the Ministry of the Interior.
