Cleveland releases new era trailer – Post World

As the Cleveland Guardians complete their rebranding and turn their backs on the Cleveland Indians of the past, a new trailer was recently announced heralding the dawn of a new era for Cleveland baseball. The trailer was tweeted from the official Cleveland Guardians account:

Given a myriad of hurdles in changing its name from the Cleveland Indians to the Cleveland Guardians – such as a legal battle with a local Cleveland Roller Derby team that shares the same nickname – the Guardians name will finally take effect in the 2022 MLB season however, the team name has been officially set, Guardians merchandise and the Guardians name will be used in all official functions until the next season. As reported by Brendan Gulick from Sports Illustrated:

“The team announced this afternoon that it will officially change its name on Friday November 19th. The team shop will open at 9:00 am with new goods for sale. “

As a new age dawns for the Guardians, one can only hope for a rejuvenation within the Guardians team, as they had a rather mediocre 80-82 season in 2021. Whether or not the new team name means something to the team’s performance in the future, it’s good to hear that one of the league’s oldest problems has finally been resolved.
