Physics Nobel Prize 2021: Award goes to climate modeler Klaus Hasselmann |

1901: Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen (1845-1923)
The first Nobel Prize in Physics went to a German in 1901: Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen was the inventor of the “X-rays”, which were later renamed X-rays after him. Röntgen does not patent his invention – this means that X-ray machines spread much faster. In contrast to modern Nobel Prizes in physics, the content of which is often incomprehensible to the layman, everyone understands the importance of this invention for medical diagnostics when it comes to the X-ray machine.
